The offshore industry has, during the last few years, seen intensive growth due to a number of reasons. It is a less complicated process to get approvals for oil and gas operations at sea, where it will have minimal impact on the local community and environment. Many of the new oil and gas fields are found offshore so it makes sense to keep the process entirely at sea. Full control of approach and mooring routines is critical for offshore operations due to constant environmental and oceanographical changes.
With 20 years of knowledge working in the oil and gas industry MARIMATECH have amassed a considerable wealth of knowledge, which has lead to a complete range of equipment, solutions and services for a variety of different offshore applications. |
SPM - Single Point Mooring
SPM - Load pin mounted in shackle
Single Point Mooring (SPM), also known as mono-mooring or bow mooring, means the tanker is moored at the bow, using one or two hawsers to a buoy or tower. Due to the fact that the tanker is free to align itself with the environmental forces, the total force is less than if the tanker were held at a fixed heading.
The two main types of SPM are Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) and Single Anchor Leg Mooring (SALM). CALM the most common, where a large buoy held in place by more anchor cables that extend in catenaries to anchor points some distance from the buoy. The SALM system is similar, except that the SALM is anchored by a single anchor leg. The anchor leg is provided with a swivel which will allow the buoy to rotate according to pull and environmental conditions. An underwater hose rises to the sea surface at a point some distance away from the buoy, and from here extends a hose to the manifold/bow loading connection on the moored tanker.

MBM - Multiple Buoy Mooring
Multiple Buoy Mooring
Multiple Buoy Mooring (MBM) is a relatively simple and inexpensive type of mooring facility, which usually consists of three to seven permanently anchored buoys. Usually the bow of the vessel is held in position by the ships own anchors while the ships mooring lines secure its stern to the mooring buoys, with the help of tug boats. As soon as the tanker has maneuvered into the berth a launch crew takes the tanker’s lines, one at a time, and tows them to the various mooring buoys.
The mooring line will be placed on the buoys VIKING Hook by the launch crew or the buoy may be boarded to secure the lines on a shackle. When leaving the berth the mooring procedure is reversed. The connection at the manifold is released, mooring lines slackened and the VIKING Hook on the buoys are released locally or remotely. |

Mooring Tower
Mooring Tower
There are two versions of the mooring tower. One is where the tanker is moored along side a rigid that comes down from the tower and the other being when the tanker is moored from the bow. Common for both is that a floating hose is connected to the turntable at the dower so the tanker will still move according to environmental forces. |
FPSO & FSO
FSO - Side by Side Mooring
Offshore projects often involve approach and mooring at FPSO and FSO solutions. Mooring at these objects often requires flexible solutions due the fact that both side by side mooring and tandem mooring is required. The approach and mooring with an E-Sea Fix PPU system and VIKING Hooks from MARIMATECH will ensure reliability and full flexibility. |
