Laser docking system sold in Denmark.
A port about 1 hours drive from MARIMATECH (Fredericia) bought a laser docking system and the background is interesting.
The port of Fredericia has an oil terminal (operated by SHELL) and we did ask them a few years ago if they were interested in a berthing aid system. The answer was that they did not find a need for such system.
About a year ago a large ship approached the terminal with too high speed and it caused a damage to their terminal of over 300,000 EURO. The problem was that the captain claimed that it was not his ship.
The Port of Fredericia then contacted us and asked us for a quote and they decided to invest in a simple system based on 2 X lasers and a large display
connected to a PC.
The main purpose of the system is to record the approach in order to prove the incident.
They are very happy with the system. And for us it now means that we have got a local reference to show potential customers.
