DEC05 - Laser tracker
Our current lasers are ideal for measuring the distance/speed to a ship approach.
However, when the tidal range exceeds, we face a problem hitting the side of the ships.

The laser will simply ‘shoot’ over the side of a small ship at low tide.
In the past we have solved this problem by using an elevator, which was moving the laser up and down with the tide.

We have made both automatic and manual models. But they were expensive and they were causing problems in terms of maintenance.

We have now developed a new model, the LT300 to solve the tide problem. This unit is a laser placed in a housing which can rotate in such a way that the laser is ‘searching’. See the picture.

This is how it works: The laser tracker is turned on when the ship is approaching and it will start to ’scan’ up and down until it hits the target (the ships side).

It will then move down until it finds the water surface and then back up to a fixed position. It will now track the ship on this fixed position and measure the distance.

We have made a data sheet, a 3d rendering for print and a very nice 3d animation of this application. All these are available on our FTP site or can be sent on request.

Please note that we (again) are leading the way in terms of innovative ideas. None of our competitors are offering this yet, so it gives us a competitive advantage.
